That is a strange question that you have probably
never been asked before but your answer will tell
you a lot about where you are going with this internet
thing.
A Chameleon or a Sore Thumb
Which one do you think your business SHOULD be?
If you plan to make a REAL income on the internet,
your reply is that your business SHOULD be a BIG, RED,
SWOLLEN THUMB!
If it is not a "sore thumb" right now, you are going
to want to "swell it" as soon as you can. In this article,
you will reveal why you want a "sore thumb" and some
things you can do to get it.
First of all, lets talk about chameleons and the chameleons
of internet marketing. What are chameleons generally known
for? They are known for blending into their environment.
They blend in so well that you can't see them in the trees.
You can't even see them in the grass. As a matter of fact,
they are embedded so deep into their surroundings that the
only way you can see them is if YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THEM!
When you blend this concept with internet marketing, you
will see that being a chameleon online is going to have
you scraping pennies for quite a while. There are literally
BILLIONS of webpages on the internet and if your site
(and/or offer) looks like everyone else's, why should
a new customer take advantage of your offer?
The "Sore Thumb", on the other hand, has a Unique Selling
Position that makes them STICK OUT. Something that is
different than the chameleon in the next tree.
There are a few things that you can do to make your business
the "SORE THUMB" of your market. It's really as limited as
your imagination and the good part about imagination is that
it is UNLIMITED!
Here are three things that you can implement TODAY to start
"the swell".
1) Try to write as much of your own copy as possible.
Your subscribers like to hear from you. They want to know
how you feel about a product that you are asking them to
check out. By writing your own ads, people will get to know
you and are more likely to buy from you if they feel they
know you.
NOTE: Today, I saw the SAME EXACT ad for the SAME EXACT
product in one eZine 3 times. I wonder who won that one?
2) Offer a benefit to your customers that your competition
can't (or won't). Lets say that Site A and Site B are
selling a piece of software that cloaks affiliate links
from being stolen so you can keep more of your commissions.
Site A is selling their software to the public for $34.95
and are offering a eBook that WAS hot 12 months ago for a
bonus. The software is good and the sales copy is pretty good,
so it interests customers that arrive at the site.
Site B is selling their software for the same $34.95 and
it does the EXACT SAME THING as Site A's product. The
difference is that Site B is offering two new eBooks and
a free autoresponder. To the customer, Site B's offer
STICKS OUT like a "sore thumb". The customer feels that
they are getting more "bang for their buck" so guess who
gets the buck!
3) Make sure that you are servicing your customers. So
many business owners on the internet miss this point and
it really does say a lot about your business. If someone
has a question, comment, concern, or whatever about you
and your business... GET BACK TO THEM as soon as you can.
When a customer (or prospective customer) sees that there
is a REAL person behind the HTML, it makes you STICK OUT
because your customers can see that you care and they feel
like they know you.
To wrap up, you can make your internet empire as large
or as modest as you want to. In order to make a REAL income
online, you are going to have to make it a point to
"swell your thumb" and make it STICK OUT to the rest of
the net.
Don't be another "me too" company.
You know, the chameleon that says:
=> "I sell software.. me TOO!"
=> "I sell eBooks... me TOO!"
=> "I'm in a matrix program... me TOO!"
=> "I signed up for 30 free programs yesterday... me TOO!"
=> "I'm not making ANY money online.. me TOO!"
